ViaNovus® Launches Application Service
Provider Platform; PARAGON Program Management System Now Available
Via the Internet
Oakland, CA ViaNovus, a leading provider of Web-based program
management solutions for the construction industry, today announced
the Internet accessibility of its core product, PARAGON Program
Management System. Now available to subscribers anytime, anywhere
from the Web, PARAGON is the only owner-focused program management
tool to integrate all facets of program management into a unified
Web-based system for immediate access to cost, schedule and communications
information.
Hosted on the highly reliable, 24/7 ViaNovus
network, PARAGON offers construction owners and their representatives
the only online tool for obtaining the mission-critical information
they need to effectively manage multi-funded capital programs and
minimize risk. PARAGON can be integrated into the construction management
process quickly and cost-effectively: The Internet-based system
eliminates the need for specialized IT infrastructure and staff
support, and can be used by any program team member with a Web browser
and password.
"The new Web-based PARAGON takes one of
the most valuable benefits of the system - the ability to instantly
view every issue, trend, and communication that affects cost and
schedule - and extends this capability to all key members of the
program management team," explains Darrell Garrett, ViaNovus
senior vice president and chief architect of PARAGON. "Now,
subscribers can log on to PARAGON from wherever they are - the office,
the job site, a public hearing, - and access detailed information
on an individual bid or work item right up through the project and
program level."
O'Brien Kreitzberg/URS became an early adopter
of the ASP-version of PARAGON when it was awarded the contract to
provide program management services for the $1.5 billion Chicago
Transit Authority (CTA) capital improvement program. The large-scale,
multi-faceted program, which includes the design and construction
of new train stations, and the renovation of rail yards and infrastructure,
is expected to span a five-year period and involve numerous funding
sources as well as hundreds of sub-contractors and suppliers.
Noel McFarlane, URS deputy program manager
for project control, said his firm spent months evaluating off-the-shelf
cost management systems that could be easily integrated into the
CTA capital improvement program. "We were interested specifically
in a cost-system that could be accessed via the Web, enabling us
to synchronize data on all project costs and produce status reports,"
he said. "PARAGON met the operating parameters we had established,
and did so at an affordable price which enables our entire team
of cost engineers to utilize the system."
